i really do hate monday mornings...

Okay...so we all hate Monday mornings, I know!!  I don't get it...why do Mondays have to be the worst of all of my mornings?  Being an English teacher you have to expect to begin teaching very early in the morning.  Fine...I'm over it...I have to wake up early.  After surviving 7am classes in Thailand with an hour commute to boot I thought 7:30am classes in Prague would be easy!  I mean...this city is much easier to navigate and the likelihood that I would have to travel far was pretty slim!

Nope...Monday mornings are my worst commute!!  I have a class every Monday morning that begins at 7:30am.  The student is lovely, though!  She is a middle-aged executive at a company just outside of the metro line.  But to reach her...and by 7:30am...I need to leave my house by 6:30!!  The last few weeks have been a nightmare...I mean it's still dark at 6:30 in the morning!  At least, this morning I was able to see the daylight before I had to walk out into the brisk Monday morning air (thank god for daylight savings).

So...my point is this...if in fact there is something that should take place on Monday mornings...don't you think it could begin at a reasonable hour like 9am?  Is it too much to ask?  Apparently...so!  To throw more salt into the wound you won't believe what happened to me this morning:

I wake up after having very little sleep.  I always have a difficult time getting to sleep on Sunday nights as well, which certainly doesn't help me to wake up on Monday morning!  Nonetheless, I get up and get ready pretty quickly so that I can be out of the house on time.  I manage to walk to the metro and take the yellow line one stop to the green line and transfer.  Once I transfer I immediately board the green line train and I am feeling pretty good!  At least I haven't had to wait for any trains...there should be no problem of me getting there on time!  I take the green line metro all the way to the end of the line (Depo Hostivar) and walk out to pick up my Czech newspaper and wait for the bus.  Don't get the wrong idea...I can't read Czech...I look at the photos and read the one page that is in English...it's a free newspaper!!!  I only have to wait a couple of minutes for my bus to arrive and now I am feeling really great about my Monday commute...I am going to be early!  BUT...as soon as I get settled on the bus I feel the vibration of my mobile phone!  Oh no!  Yep...she cancelled!!

Now...she cancelled late so I do still get paid.  I know that is something that I should be really grateful for...getting paid for no work!  But it was work...I woke up at 6am this morning...took two trains and went one stop on the bus before getting off, turning around, & coming straight back home to sit and wait until my next class at 2pm today!  Not exactly the kind of Monday morning I was hoping for!!

Hope yours was better!
